In this introductory public relations course, we were individually tasked with identifying a hypothetical client and creating a corresponding public relations portfolio. Our portfolio consisted of a fact sheet, publicity photos, media clippings, overview of hypothetical promotional event, a biography, press release, and media alert.

Key Take-Aways:

  • Good public relations requires good writing.

    • Pay attention to the value of what you are communicating and when possible, condense! 

  • Know your client inside and out.

    • In order to communicate on behalf of your client, you must fully understand who they are, how they act, and what their main objectives consist of.​

    • A successful public relations person puts themselves in the shoes of their clients and personalizes their approach every time!
